Former World Bank Director, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has reportedly emerged the new Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
According to reports, Okonjo-Iweala pulled a total 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat South Korea’s Yoo Myung-Hee in the race.
The new role, will make her the first African and first female Director-General of the international body in its 25 years of existence.
An official announcement is expected to be made by the Organisation later today.
