Looting: 110 Tractors Missing as Hoodlums Invade Adamawa Warehouse

The North East Commodity Association (NECAS) has said hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protests have carted away 110 new tractors from the association’s warehouse in Yola.

Chairman of the association, Alhaji Sadiq Umar-Daware disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to him, the association had enough tractors, owing to its tractor leasing and mechanisation service rendered to farmers.

He added that they also broke into the main warehouses of the Rice Farmers Association (RIFAN) and Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria (MFAN), and made away with farm inputs.

This, he noted, was in addition to the several bags of fertilisers and farm inputs they had been looted from another warehouse.

“They not only took tonnes of produce, but they also made away with the farm inputs for the dry season farming and the offices of Rice Farmers Association, Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria (MFAN) and the NECAS were also looted and vandalised.

“Files for various programmes were destroyed and they made away with various documents,’’ he said.

The Chairman described the act as extremely inimical to the development of agricultural and attainment of food security.

He, therefore, urged the state’s residents to be on the lookout for anybody in possession of the tractors and report to NECAS, RIFAN and MFAN officials for recovery and necessary action.

Meanwhile, Umar-Daware disclosed that reports had already been made to security agencies, all to no avail.

He said the association had already gotten reports pointing to possible places that the items could have been hidden.

“Based on our findings, they have kept some of the tractors in some people’s garages and when reports were made the response was not favourable,” Umar-Daware added.
